Artist's description:

This painting is 18" x 20". It was made by applying oil paint onto triple primed cotton canvas. The canvas was stretched over a wooden frame and secured with 1/2" metal staples.

The painting is heavily textured.

The reference for the face was taken from a surgical textbook I found at the Strand bookstore in New York. It is filled with hundreds of black and white photos of people during various stages of reconstructive surgery.

Materials used:

oil paint, triple primed cotton canvas, wood stretchers, staples, metal brace
