Society binds and restrains us in many ways. The 'Being, Bound' series of works explores this, using drawing and painting in metals and other substances bound and enclosed within sheets of cast glass.
Unusually for this series, this particular work breaks these bounds - she leaps, free and wild, out of the frame!
Being, Unbound shows a nude female figure, still bound at the bottom within the glass, working with exuberance to free herself, eventually being just simmering traces of colour revealing her upraised arm.
The figure is created from a drawing, executed partly in bronze, coloured with cobalt and copper, and the careful application of copper dust, all captured within thinly cast glass, laminated to canvas and framed. It's ready to hang.
