Basil's Folly No.8 is part of the ongoing Basil's Folly series. No. 8 introduces touches of bright saturated color and more expressive, almost confetti like brushwork.
When I originally started the series I was thinking about how children like to pretend and imagine wonderful things when they play – anything and everything is possible! I began thinking about a child’s game that included an invisible folly. By folly, I mean the architectural definition: whimsical or extravagant structure built to serve as a conversation piece, lend interest to a view found especially in England in the 18th century.
Where would your imaginary folly exist? Initially I 'placed' the unseen folly in abstracted landscape settings but now, the environment has shifted to include bright playful colors and gestural paint handling.
Basil's Folly No.8 :
{+} Is created with acrylic paint on archival 100% cotton Rives BFK paper
{+} Will be carefully packaged including a pH neutral barrier to protect the surface
{+} Signed and dated on the back, small signature on the front and certificate of authenticity
{+} Fine layer of archival varnish applied to front of artwork to protect/inhibit UV rays
{+} The full paper size is 30h x 22w (76 x 56 cm) however I am suggesting a 1-2" crop / mat allowance for the framer. The interior design image above helps show how the painting could look framed.
{ International Collectors } Please contact me for shipping rates if you do not see your country listed - import duties or taxes are not included in the artwork price or shipping expense.
The good news is that I'm sharing the (fully insured) shipping/packaging expenses to help reduce overseas shipping costs. It's been my experience that duty tax on original art can be 5% - 7% depending on your country :)
