Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

Alan portrays a deep, sometimes menacing and tortured, illustration of tree bark and rocks. Focusing more on form, shape, texture and colour to portray the organic movement and contrasts in natural landscape patterns that are often unobserved and studied.

He says this abstraction of detail comes from a connection to emotions rather than intellect that represents an attempt to create balance and a sense of unity within these formations.
