Artwork description:

I think the banana is a very underrated and misrepresented item in the art world. It's lustrous colour and slightly erotic shape gives it an enigmatic air that is elusive to capture on paper.
It is my reaction to an article I saw recently that stated that printmaking was a craft not an art. As a consequence I am tackling subject material that is often presented by fine artists, 'Still life' in this instance.
This piece also pays tribute to Andy Warhol and the pop art 'look' is rooted in my admiration for Patrick Caulfield.
A 3 colour reduction linocut carved and printed by my own hand

Materials used:

Cranfield safe wash relief inks, Awagami 88 gsm Masa japanese paper
