Original artwork description:

A courtyard pool, with a vast array of reflected light casting a rainbow of fragmented colors throughout like a stained glass mosaic. The bathers here reference famous bathers painted by Cézanne, Matisse and Picasso (all can be seen in the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia).

The idea is that these iconic bathers of Modernism are jumping into the pool of re-incarnation, to return through the eternal wheel of Samsara into our mortal domain. And perhaps to be reincarnated in this particular painting.

The fragmented tile-like colors throughout the painting reference also directly the famous paintings that Pierre Bonnard depicting the lone bather in her bath-tub.

Materials used:

Oil on linen
