I love to paint trees especially in the Autumn and am enjoying the rich, warm colours that are currently ablaze in the woods. This time going a little more abstract..and being a more than a little inspired by the complex semi-abstract paintings that Gustav Klimt did of birch trees in autumn. I have used a mix of bright and subdued yellows, greens, oranges and mauves as well as little gold here and there for added shimmer!
This painting is done on canvas board with collaged elements and lots of textures and impasto applied paints. I have sealed the whole painting with two coats of satin varnish for durability and depth, also so that it is not necessary to have a covering of glass to protect it. It is quite difficult to capture the glow and depth in this painting and I think it probably works best in the outdoor photo and the smaller close up shots.
The painting is sold mounted and framed in a 2" deep burgundy coloured mount (mat) and a 4" wide deep gold effect frame. Can alternatively be sold unframed, please contact me for this option or see other listing where you can find more images too.
