This abstracted landscape, made in 2003, was inspired by Danube river and the fertile hills that surround it. Two banks of the river in this area, in the suburbs of Belgrade, capitol of Serbia, are quite different. One side is decorated with orchards and vineyards that bloom in the Spring, and reveal copper colours in the Autumn, the other side is a flat, endless valley, with rows of trees by the banks, crisscrossed with canals and horizontal lines from dark brown, golden ochre, yellow to Prussian blue.
I concentrated on this hilly side, dynamic and vivid.
It took me months to paint this painting, constantly changing the colours and the strokes that were fluctuating, confronting each other and complementing at the same time. It has thick layers of paint and dynamic movements of a brush, like nature itself, that constantly changes and vibrates before our eyes.
Painting is made with oil colours on a linen canvas . Canvas is stretched on a classic frame stapled on the side of the frame and cut around the back edge of the frame.
It comes with the signed Certificate of Authenticity.
