Traveling through Idaho's southern mountains in the fall, colors and textures were so vivid. Capturing the aspens' light airiness and craggy ruggedness happened best through using a palette knife. In Autumn Ascending, the paint is thick and bold, like the aspen trees growing in the Albion Mountains. I felt like I could wander through the aspen glades forever. I am happy to have captured this beautiful moment in the mountains on canvas with my oil paints.
