After dark near the arctic can be a magical time. Especially during the long winter months where darkness extends into day. This darkness provides a perfect canvas for the dramatic light show that is the Aurora Borealis, or northern lights. While these shows usually consist of yellowish green shafts of light, on very rare occasions, a vibrant display of reds, pinks, and even purples will leave the lucky viewers speechless.
