I really enjoy painting darker skin tones. Those dark tones better reflect the color of light and surrounding surfaces. The entire story and environment can be simply read by careful observation of skin.

In this portrait, the model at the school chose to wear a simple cotton Mexican dress, and I knew instantly, I would love painting her. Graceful, and exuding strength, confidence, and wit, I determined to catch the goddess within Athena.
