Artist's description:

The form of the arch, and its role in connecting both spaces and emotions, is a constant theme. Here, the arch is the monumental structures of the Flanders battlefields of the Great War, with hope and remembrance mixed in the sunset.

Paint applied using a palette knife and a roller gives the angular, fragmented feeling in these two complimentary paintings. Paint eroded in places, reveals the texture and workings underneath.
