Artist's description:

“You could sometimes see her twelfth year in her cheeks, or her ninth sparkling from her eyes; and even her fifth would flit over the curves of her mouth now and then.”
― Thomas Hardy, Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Tess is an original handmade doll created from polymer clay, (I do not use molds). The doll is then painted using acrylic paint and the face detail is watercolour and pencil, the hair is mohair. Her dress is made from vintage fabrics including a christening gown. Tess is jointed and stands on a distressed painted oak plinth which makes her 41cm tall.
The dolls I make are fragile and are therefore not suitable for young children as toys.
