The Arctic Tern is such a striking bird to paint. I wanted to get the feeling of movement, as if he's just landed. This was painted on Bockingford 300gms St Cuthbert's Mill watercolour paper.
I was interested to find out that the record for the furthest migration of any marine species belongs to the Arctic Tern, a bird who routinely travels from one end of the Earth to the other each year.
