During the early days of Singapore's history, Chinese immigrants visited Ann Siang Hill to send money home to their families in China. It was go to site for remittance monies. Letter writers and calligraphers also fill the walkways of the shophouses to help the illiterate immigrants write letters home. This images depicts the old buildings juxtaposed with the skyscrapers in the background.
