I painted this in response to the Artfinder/Friends of the Earth project to raise awareness of bees and their vital role in the ecosystem of our planet for the survival of so many plants and animals (including the human animal!). As I painted this for the project, I will donate a percentage of sale price to Friends of the Earth in the purchaser's name.
I have been enjoying experimenting with surrealism recently and specifically with regard to the cosmos and wanted to continue that theme while still hopefully showing the importance of bees to planet earth. I wanted to use a dandelion clock to convey the time element as per the old wive's tale of using it to tell the time and the fact that unless we take action soon the bees (and our world as we know it) will be out of time.
I loved working on this painting because animals and nature are my biggest inspiration and I always love to use my art in any way that might help raise awareness of issues facing the environment and the creatures we share the planet with.
This is a deep set gallery wrapped canvas which doesn't need to be framed but could be set into a floating frame if you preferred. My signature is on the side of the canvas which is were I prefer to sign my paintings but there isn't an option to mention that when listing the painting on here.
As with all my paintings, this has been sprayed with satin varnish to protect it from dust and damage from UV light.
