Original artwork description:

This picture was done initially with studies as I was sitting in the heat of the summer with a straw hat in an English allotment. Colours were washed out as in the Mediterranean so I included the house to add a bit of drama as they were settled into the hillside. I thought about the impressionists as they worked in situ and especially Van Gough who's use of brushworks expressed his exuberance or turmoil.
