Whilst walking on the beautiful beach in Boa Vista (400km) west of Senegal, my wife and I spotted this strange photo opportunity. The foreground depicts bits of driftwood and tidal debris but the middle distance is dominated by 2 pieces of driftwood which has been fashioned into a crucifix and planted into the sand.
It's a kind of timeless, eerie and melancholic scene which would not work in colour, hence this very contrasty monochromatic rendition.
The title "All will be Dust" is a timely reminder of our own mortality.
This is a photograph which needs to be loved and shown as a beautiful piece of thought provoking art. I hope you enjoy it - kindest regards
