Built in 1926, Vigilance is one of Brixham's historic trawlers and now takes passengers for a sail. I am fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of a trip on this wonderful boat.
This painting is based on a photograph I took of her one sunny afternoon while sailing our own boat in the bay. She looked marvellous in the sunlight, cruising through the water. I was inspired to try and capture her on canvas.
It is painted on a cotton canvas and framed in a floating frame. The frame is a 35mm deep sided, burnished gilt finished wooden frame with a distressed finish (see photos). It is wired and ready to hang. The canvas measures 12" X 10". Including the frame its final measurement is 13.5" X 11.5".
The painting has been protected with a satin varnish, which gives it a soft sheen.
Artists' quality acrylic paints, stretched cotton canvas, floating frame, satin varnish.
