This painting was inspired by a magazine picture advertising unusual make-up. I liked the boldness of the colour and the use of different colours for different parts of the face. It was the vibrancy of the picture that attracted my attention.
I firstly made a drawing of her and experimented with different colours. Then I changed the shape to make it more angular and give it a sharper definition. Silver was added to introduce an element of ethereal mystery.
I used many layers of paint to achieve the colour and the texture of this piece.
