Original artwork description:

This is a re-drawn and painted picture of an oval painting by Bosschaert, caught “tipping over,” referring to the ecological crisis we face.
The Tansey is a rare butterfly that is a valued part of the ecosystem.

Inspired by the 17th century Dutch flower paintings found in the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge, with a particular focus on the Broughton Collection. Each month in 2018 you could find Alex sketching in the rooms with her easel, an honour not bestowed on upon many.
Having learnt the recent research about how bees interact with flowering plants, from Cambridge University, this artwork is painted in UV and pulls us closer to the deeper message of how bees see and interact with flowering plants.

To see this picture in the dark you need a UV torch then the hidden message is revealed. They cost around £15 and can be brought from somewhere like Amazon.

Materials used:

Underneath etching printed x5, each painted individually in mixed media UV materials
