Original artwork description:

A sketch of an adobe shed in Northern New Mexico. Another of the painting-a-day series of small watercolors paintings using quick strokes with a writing brush on rough watercolor paper. In this case, I created the image with a soft pencil, then used watercolor washes and colored pencil over.

Original pencil with watercolor, 9" x 12" image size, matted and ready to frame.

Open skies, storms coming in, sweeping vistas, mountains and grasslands all call for broad strokes and bold light and shadows. I strive for an economy of color and execution that can bring a landscape to life.

Materials used:

watercolor and arches paper
