Artist's description:

The biography of Anna Held inspired me to this drawing.

Anna Held (1872 - 1918) - born in Poland, singer and actress, model. Her fame is inextricably linked to the Broadway show musicals of Florence Siegfeld.
When young, energetic Siegfeld went to Europe in search of the first star of his Broadway show, it turned out that all worthy performers were engaged. And only one recently returned to the scene after the birth of her daughter, the singer was still free. Siegfeld went to the show and was fascinated.
A lovely little Anna Held with a stunning waist of 45 cm (the snickers said that Anna had to remove the ribs for this purpose) played playful songs in a carefully thought-out seductive suit - with short skirts and a large decollete. She had unusually lively and flirtatious eyes, fascinating the audience. Later, the enterprising Siegfeld even produced a poster with six different expressions of the eyes of Mademoiselle Held.
As a child, Anna had to earn money, cleaning and twisting feathers for hats. She did not know how many such hats will be in her future!
