In the 1920's, after World War 1, Britain knew there would inevitably be another war. So the government began, before radar was invented (discovered?) to prepare by building a series of concrete "listening" structures on the south coast of England, in Kent.
We were on the Denge Peninsular bird-watching early on a freezing winter morning and came across them...
