Artist's description:

While visiting the Cascades and walking between some outcroppings I caught sight of this majestic bird about to take flight, its wings opening, the feathers unfurling, and it hunching slightly for power. It launched, dropping into the updrafts and swept away from my sight around the other side of the outcropping on which it had stood. My guess was that it was intending to approach from another angle on whatever target lay in the valley below. I hope it got its meal.

This 24x48 inch painting is on a gallery wrapped thick set of stretchers suitable for hanging without framing. Paint touches on the edges as on works shown in galleries in New York City.
