A row of birches dissolves into pure texture and color in this boldly abstract, heavily impastoed work. Hovhannes Avetisyan builds each slender tree from thick, encrusted layers of paint — fragments of red, yellow, turquoise, violet, and deep blue piled into rugged, mosaic-like surfaces that rise against a flat, calm cobalt ground. Trickling black lines anchor the trunks, while the riotous canopies seem to vibrate with sculptural energy and light. Material and tactile, the piece treats the birch grove almost as living relief, where pigment itself becomes the subject. A daring, contemporary reinvention of the woodland — vivid, dimensional, and pulsing with raw painterly vitality.
