Paper collage inspired by an original photograph taken by Melanie Ezra. Each collage is a physical reconstruction using tweezers and scalpel and is meticulously recreated in painstaking detail over several days. All cuts are done freehand without any prior planning. The cuts in this photograph leave paper strands as thin as 2mm in some places.
This collage was based on a photograph of The Hays, South Bank, London.
The deconstructed subject matter becomes almost irrelevant since it is the effect of the reconstruction that the viewer is inevitably drawn to. These remarkable narratives speak volumes as to the potential of the photograph.
