A new and experimental style of figurative drawing. This female study of a ballerina in a sitting pose is a wonderfully contrasting piece - the head, shoulders and torso are detailed with expression, highlights in crayon, shape and life. The lower half of the ballerina's body is a loose outline. Fluidity and spontaneity alongside accuracy, yet the overall effect is one of serenity.
Ballerinas and dancers are one of John's favoured figurative subjects.
