The day had turned eerie as the light faded at Comptom beach, south of the Isle of Wight. My daughter was one of a handful of people still trying to make most of the waves before before we set off home. The sand for me was the hardest part to paint. Probably as I felt that this was an important part of the composition. I wanted the rich colours to draw the viewer in from a distance.
The painting is set in a white moulded wooden frame.
Oils, linseed oil, Stand oil.
