This is a miniature painting on canvas. The inspiration came about when I was driving past Baillie Wind Farm one morning as the sun was coming up. It was really beautiful and I stopped to take a photograph which I knew I would want to turn into a painting. This is painted in acrylic using a palette knife in an impasto technique so it has a rich textured surface.
I decided to call this piece 'A little more than green' in a nod to the green nature of renewable energy and the multitude of colours in the sun rise and also because of its tiny size. I also painted a large version of this painting called 'A lot more than green' which I'm delighted to say won the artist category in the Scottish Renewables Green Energy Awards 2015.
As this is a miniature canvas, it comes with its own wooden display easel and does not therefore need to be framed, although you could certainly do that if you preferred.
