Artist's description:

Strong, tall and representing the abundance of natural beauty in Japan, bamboo grows in beautiful linear forests and grows in abundance.

Kimono colours of March are represented here by peach and khaki. The transition from winter to spring is a glorious time across the globe and it's no different in Japan.

In this series I've considered the natural landscape using textured paper together with loose brush strokes. Like many things special to Japanese culture, bamboo is very symbolic and represents good luck. I just love it there!

Materials used:

Japanese washi paper with archival acrylic ink

3rd March (2017)
