Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

Inspired by an iconic scene of the 1848 revolution in Berlin, this acrylic painting is backed by a vintage map of Europe, a continent that became engulfed in revolution and political upheaval. The liberal revolutionaries, demanding social justice and civil rights for a rapidly growing population would eventually be beaten down, with French philosopher Proudhon concluding ''...We have been beaten and humiliated ... scattered, imprisoned, disarmed and gagged. The fate of European democracy has slipped from our hands.''
