'#13 Derwent Riparian' is a limited edition Japanese woodblock print. The traditional process of Japanese woodblock printmaking involves cutting a number of woodblocks with knives and chisels. The relief carving is then brushed with water based inks, registered, and printed by hand with a Japanese bamboo baren to build up the image in layers.
'#13 Derwent Riparian' is one of a series of prints inspired by local walks beside the River Derwent in North Yorkshire. Known locally as 'Lady Spring Wood' the area is an important example of Riparian woodland, a transition zone between river and field.
