This image is a woodcut print created in 1992 during art college. The print records a conversation between a couple inspired in its composition from Edvard Munch's painting 'Cupid and Psyche' .
I had seen his retrospective exhibition at the National Gallery in 1992 and was simply blown away by his mark-making and his use of colour to provoke a psychological aspect - something which has stayed with me since.
The concept of this print was to create a woodcut in the style of Edvard and the German Expressionists - exploring the psychological in an event of a couple having one of those conversations about their relationship.
This print was explored through a woodcut in plywood and as a linocut. There are several versions in different colours exploring the way colour can change the feeling of the image portrayed.
Lithography Printing Inks, Cartridge paper, Plywood.
