What is Artfinder?

Artfinder works with leading galleries, museums, and artists to bring you a vast choice of limited edition prints and contemporary artwork for sale. We are a unique art destination bringing you the stories behind the art, essays and biographies about the artists behind the works, information on where you can see the artwork in person, inspiration and help on selecting the right artwork. What are Editions?

A Limited Edition is a series of prints which, as the name suggests, are limited in number. The size of the Edition varies from very small (sometimes below even 10) to the hundreds and occasionally even the thousands). Normally the number is written on the print and the artist may also sign the works. The price of a work is driven by the artwork itself – and generally is also function of the fame of the artist, the size of the work, and the size of the edition. Limited Editions can therefore provide a great way to start purchasing famous artists works at very affordable prices and, due to their finite nature, they can often make great investments for the future.

What do you mean by Vintage?

All Vintage works on Artfinder were created before the year 1970. These works can be open editions or limited editions and have usually been created with direct supervision or approval by the artist. Many Vintage works have become collector's pieces in their own right.

What is a Reproduction?

A reproduction is an open (unlimited) copy of a work created without supervision or input from the artist. This category includes museum quality posters and prints.

What are Original works?

Originals are one-off artworks by the artist. They are created by the artist.

Are all Original Artworks signed?

Many contemporary artists don't sign works as it can distract from the image. Each Product Page will state if the artwork is signed or unsigned and will state where the work is signed.

How do I know if a Limited Edition is signed and what the edition size is?

Artfinder will always tell you if a Limited Edition is signed and numbered. On the product page, in the product details section we'll tell you the specifics of each print, including if it is signed and numbered.

Does the artwork look exactly like the pictures on the website?

We work closely with the galleries and artists to make sure that we have high resolution images of all artworks for sale that accurately represent the artwork. In the case of some prints that are produced in print runs the visual representation may differ slightly from print to print. If you are not satisfied with the artwork that you buy then you can always use our 14 day returns policy. See our returns policy

How do I know my personal information is safe?

Artfinder takes your privacy very seriously and we will never share your email address or personal details with any third parties, or other companies. We only use your personal information for internal purposes, such as allowing you to track your recent orders. You can read our full privacy policy

Duties and Taxes

If live in the US, you order may be subject to duties and taxes from your local customs office before you can claim your package.

Unfortunately we have no control over this process and duties and taxes may be applied as a percentage of the value of the product that you are importing. We urge you to contact your customs bureau for more details.

Do you offer artwork framed?

In many cases we offer framed editions of the artwork. We work with galleries and artists to offer a framed version of the artwork that has been approved by the gallery or artist.

Why do you use Plexiglass/Styrene in the frames?

We use Plexiglass for a number of reasons:

  • It is safer and stands less of getting damaged like glass does during shipping
  • It offers more UV protection, so your artwork is more protected from fading over time
  • It has materially less glare than glass, so your artwork will look fantastic in any room that you choose to hang it in.
