'Collage', a French term that means,'to glue', goes a little way in describing the medium. However, collage is way more exciting than that.
In this week's Artbeat, we're celebrating the wonderful, and let's face it, sometimes strange world of collage. While the medium has been around for hundreds of years, it exploded in the early twentieth century, as artists such as Picasso and Braque started experimenting with the art form.
Collage isn't just about gluing pieces of paper onto a surface. It involves the use of paint, pencil, charcoal, photographs, clippings and other objects to create a whole new story. So, what can you see in the artworks below?
