Biography
I came up to Manchester over 30 years ago. Originally it was to work at the Royal Exchange Theatre, but, after a few jobs at other Arts organisations, I found my true passion and moved into photography.
I love working with talented models because what usually happens is that they'll move in a certain way that improves on your original idea. And then they'll move again and offer you something altogether different; and then you're off, interacting with each other and going off at tangents. Later, when you review your images, you often find that the original idea got lost in the process, but you've captured all sorts of other images that you couldn't have thought of. That's very satisfying!
When shooting on my own outside, I love discovering the unexpected; walking round a corner and being confronted with a "must have" image. Having good equipment always helps, but the most important piece of kit isn't in your bag at all. It's your eyes!
