    An Artist's Manicure.

I snapped this photo of my hand while I was busy painting in acrylics. I know how messy I can be, but sometimes it still shocks me. I think I can get more paint on me than the canvas! I was taking a break and looked down at my hand... I thought all of the splattered colors were actually quite pretty.

    Painting Plein Air in Arizona

    Painting Plein Air in Arizona

Where I live in Arizona is mostly desert, rocks and dirt. But there are a few quiet beautiful spots that contain bodies of water. When I come across one of these magical places, I make a point to spend some time there and capture it's peacefulness on canvas.

    Painting Plein Air

I was visiting Durango, Colorado, and decided to paint on site at this beautiful location. It was wonderful being surrounded by so much beauty, and exciting to create while in this space.

    Sammy, my little helper

    Sammy, my little helper

Sometimes, in order to show size, I enlist the help of my dog, Sammy. He's very good at standing and staying in front of the paintings until I finish taking pictures. He's also good at sitting in my lap while I paint and keeping me company. I love him!

    Interviewing with another artist

    Interviewing with another artist

I met with a very successful artist at one of the places I hang my paintings. I was tired, overwhelmed, and very curious to know how he was 'making' it, and making it very well, as an artist. As we were talking, he grabbed my phone and took this photo of me. I'm not sure why he did it, but the photo is very special because I got to see myself through someone else's eyes...and even though I look quite tired, I can see the spark inside me that has kept me going for so long.

    Jimi and I

    Jimi and I

I take photos of myself (or my dogs) in front of certain paintings to give people a better idea of the size, especially when the painting is particularly large. I took this 'selfie' right before entering this painting in an art show.

    Painting on the Beach

    Painting on the Beach

We took a short road trip to California from Phoenix. I had some paintings that needed to be worked on so I brought them with me. I usually bring my paintings and paints with me on trips and work on them in the hotel or place that we are staying. I decided I wanted to try painting on the beach. Once we got everything set up, it was AWESOME. I loved loved loved it and have never forgotten how wonderful it felt. The funny thing is, I lived on Kauai for six years of my life before moving to Phoenix and I never once painted live on the beach. I can't wait to do it again!

    I said no pictures please!

    I said no pictures please!

My hubby and I were at work outside of a place I hang paintings. I was busy painting and he was busy greeting people and snapping photos. He happened to get this picture right in the middle of me explaining why it was not the appropriate time to take a photo. We both thought it was a pretty funny shot.

    Kissy Kissy

    Kissy Kissy

I snapped this photo after finishing a large painting of two people kissing. The actual title of the piece is "The Kiss". It was a very popular painting, partly due to the fact that many people thought I was portraying two women kissing. In actuality, it is intended to portray the excitement of two people, woman/man or woman/woman (whatever you want to believe), about to kiss for the first time.
