    Roswell Pit

This is a close up video of my most recent painting 'Roswell Pit'. It should give you a clearer idea of the techniques and processes I have used and also a more accurate rendition of the colours and brushmarks.

    New Forest Residency

    New Forest Residency

These are the first two paintings I have been working on during the New Forest residency, not quite completed as yet, but I think they are quite close. Each painting started with a relatively heavy impasto of pumice stone, plaster, PVA and tissue paper; I wanted to recreate a tangible sense of the materials and textures of the forest and provide a base for subsequent layers of oil paint and cold wax. The cold wax medium has been perfect for this kind of work, allowing fast drying times between applications. I have maintained a fairly rigorous schedule since I arrived, starting work each morning in the studio around 7.30 am and finishing late in the afternoon. In the composition I have reflected the vertical structure of the forest and endeavoured to give a sense of the unending, rhythmic and totemic appearance of the forest, at the same time deliberately eliminating any obvious focal points. The close cropping of the image also adds to this sense of continuity.

Artist Residency, Woodlands, New Forest, UK

This is a photograph of me nest to the paintings I have been working on during the last week. I am in the middle of a 2 week residency in the New Forest; the residency was provided by the company 'Little Van Gogh' who are based in Brussels. I was the winner of a competition held last year by the organisation. I am really enjoying the experience and the opportunity to work in the beautiful landscapes of the New Forest. As the work is completed it will be available for sale on my Artfinder site.

August News Collaborate and communicate The Cambridge Open Art Exhibition has for over 20 years promoted local established and emerging artists by exhibiting their work. We heard from one of last year's artists Peter Corr, who shared his latest artwork with us, shown above entitled Vale of Eden. "This is a new painting in mixed media and acrylic, semi abstract in terms of technique and style and is based on the rhythms and cycle of growth seen in nature. There is a spiralling arc of movement upwards towards the light'
