I have painted and drawn ever since I could hold a pencil and was admonished many times by my teachers at school for the somewhat unflattering portraits of them and my friends that covered most of my books. For many years, as a single mum, I had to also have a 'proper job' as children are an expensive luxury and only painted on commission. However, the last one has now graduated and flown the nest so my time is my own
I am primarily a portrait artist working from commission, mainly in graphite or oils but since retiring to Folkestone, I have been totally inspired by the wonderful skies and landscapes that captured the hearts of Turner and Constable. Although I cannot profess to reach the dizzy heights of these two masters I have found that my landscapes, sunsets in particular, have proved very popular and the light in the S.E. of England is incomparable.
I am a member of the Folkestone Art Society. I also draw portraits of animals for charities that rescue animals in Bosnia, Greece, Egypt, Romania - in fact anywhere that animals are abused - and I have raised nearly £6,000 in the last 18 months
