About Patricia Vargas

  • Biography
Patricia Vargas is an abstract acrylic and digital media painter from Southern California. She has been painting since the tender age of 10 and holds a Bachelor's degree in art from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She began as a landscape artist until a university assignment opened her creative world into the realm of abstract art, and it was here where she discovered her true talent.

Currently, she focuses on three main aspects that influence the direction of her work. She aims to capture the sensation of happiness and positive energy by solely focusing on the present moment during her painting sessions. Her acrylic paintings welcome the natural messiness, texture, and patterns of paint and brush. She uses a mix of large and small singular painting strokes and organic shapes. Similarly, her digital paintings blur the line between traditional painting and technology by mimicking the appearance of physical paint. Secondly, her use of bright vibrant colors are overly saturated versions of those found in her favorite settings like the mountain side, lush forests, cheery rose gardens, and deep rich oceans. Her play on pattern is inspired by eclectic and contemporary design.  Lastly, Patricia is not interested in having any sort of political or cultural symbolism attached to her work, instead she invites the viewer to escape within the details and create their own stories and conclusions as they experience each piece.

Patricia’s artwork has been collected by interior design influencers, luxury hotels and homeowners all around the world. Her work has been seen in both online and printed publications such as Better Homes & Gardens, Domino Magazine, HGTV Magazine, Design*Sponge, and Apartment Therapy to name a few. She has also collaborated with national brands like Anthropologie.
