I am a professional artist, writer and illustrator my work has included collector plate designs, stationery, calendars and children’s books, magazine illustration. My work has been regularly exhibited and sold across the UK. I have exhibited with the Royal Society of Miniaturists and with the Llewellyn Alexandar Gallery in London where I won two awards for an outstanding miniature in exhibitions of over 780 paintings. 2015 saw the publication of my first purely text book Heal Yourself with Angels published by Llewellyn Worldwide, USA. It has already appeared in many foreign editions. A second title has been completed and will be published in 2017.
My influences are Medieval illuminated manuscripts and Persian miniatures and Celtic design. I am also very inspired by the natural world and love painting flowers and I particularly enjoyed creating the ‘Language of Flowers’ set of 12 paintings which were used as an exclusive calendar for W H Smith in 2006.
The extraordinary art of ancient Egyptian with its symbolic meanings has long been of great fascination and inspiration to me, as have their mystical rituals, their spiritual beliefs and intriguing gods and goddesses. In my paintings I do not try to copy the ancient Egyptian artists but to create my own interpretation inspired by their beautiful art. I work in watercolour using very fine miniaturists brushes which enables me to create detail and build colour slowly. I work on rigid art board and apply a fine base of coloured artists pencils first to give texture and depth to the watercolour.
I live in the UK and work from a Hansel and Gretal cottage in the Dorset countryside.
