  • Biography

My mind tells me stuff that isn’t true. My paintings tell me something else. Apparently I’m here to become free.

For a number of years I have worked with models and other artists from different medium backgrounds to access intuitive processes and experiences. My journey through each collection is like a shedding of restrictions that allows access to more subtle sources of inspiration. Each process requires more trust and a deeper relationship with the medium. Each painting tells me something new in a clearer voice.

    Event: Roads To Freedom

    Dates: 9 Sep 2017 - 30 Sep 2017

    Venue: Gallery Fold, Reykjavik

After a couple of shows in London with the works I created in Iceland, I began my latest collection, “I Acquiesce”, which was exhibited in Bermondsey Gallery, London this year. During this collection, I became intensely drawn to being a channel for higher states of consciousness, and towards the end of this collection was given a new way to approach the canvas by my partner’s spirit guides. Not only was I given a meditation to do before and during the painting process but I was told to start working with one canvas at a time and to develop an intimate relationship with its emerging form by communicating with it at every stage. I used writing to access this communication and would write my thoughts and questions, mainly about what it needed and what it was trying to give me – I would then find myself writing a response. I have brought some of these canvases to Reykjavik for a show entitled "Roads to Freedom".

    Event: REBIRTH

    Dates: 4 Jul 2015 - 5 Aug 2015

    Venue: Gallery Fold, Reykjavik

Recently my creative process has been more internal, related to healing and generating ideas from a heart connection process. My latest work entitled REBIRTH, is the beginning of this journey and has brought me back to London where I will be exhibiting in the coming months.

Event: Brilliant Rose With Seams And Nudes

    Dates: 12 Feb 2015 - 31 Mar 2015

    Venue: Kaffi Sólon, Reykjavik

Why Brilliant Rose? I began to receive an endless supply of free samples from my supplier. I guess it was a new color. I liked the name, then easily became obsessed with the color as it seemed to fit perfectly with my new discovery.

Why Seams? Each canvas has a hand stitched seam joining smaller pieces together. At first it was out of necessity as i could not afford a large surface. I soon discovered that I liked the stitching process, lovingly preparing the surface of my next step in this direction. The end result was that the figures in the paintings had seams running through them. I was fixing something, reforming a damaged perspective.

Why female nudes? As with everything I paint, this collection helped me to uncover and eventually let go of an obsession that stood in the way of my journey towards inner peace and creative freedom. After the first Brilliant Rose I saw an irrational expectation of unconditional love and approval from women. My behavior in relationships has always been driven by impending rejection rooted in a self-seeking approach to everything.

If I paint it I can see it, and if I can see it I can let go of it.
