  • Biography

    Originally from the beautiful Russian City of St Petersburg, I relocated to Cape Town, South Africa in 2013. I qualified with a Master’s degree in Law and successfully ran my ownlegal practice in St Petersburg for 10 years, but my move to Cape Town saw a radical change in career ambition and interest. I furthered my studies in fine art for three years and pursuing a career as an artist. And have been a full-time artist for 5 years to date.

    Some of my achievements, however not limited to, have been being one of the resident artists and a Curator at Meerendal Wine Estates’ Art Gallery, Cape Town, South Africa. I became a co-founder and Art Director of Art Invest South Africa (ARTISA) in April 2017. My painting; “Winter in Russia”, was featured on KykNets’ South African television show, Boer soek ‘n Vrou.

    I have been exhibiting at numerous galleries in Cape-Town since 2015. In November 2018, I, among other SA Artists have been chosen to exhibit at “PUBLIC EYE SOAR PROJECT FESTIVAL”, in Panama City, Florida & USA. Exhibiting my art past and present next to some well-known SA Artists such as: Ann Gadd, Anthony Gadd, Derrick Van Rensburg, Marc Alexander, Tay Dall, Anton Gericke, to name a few. My art has been sold to various clients in South Africa, Germany, France & USA.

    I don’t limit myself to a specific medium or style. Being versatile is just in my nature, and ultimately, it’s a way to captivate viewers with the beauty of this world, using the whole palette of colours and forms, as well as the capabilities of each medium.

    I was always interested in psychology, Especially female. The turning point in my art was the book by Jean Shinoda Bohlen "Goddess in every woman." She presented women in the form of Greek goddesses, who in turn represent the archetypical characteristics of women, which Karl Jung once wrote about. After studying the archetypes and re-reading "Myths of ancient Greece," I decided to make a series of paintings about women and their archetypes. But I did not want to depict a woman as such, and drawing attention to the fact that each woman in myths had a certain symbol in the form of a flower or, for example, a circle like Hestia, I decided to use it in my paintings and depict a woman in the form of a flower, with all its characteristic features. Through the shapes and colour, bringing attention to the small details I wanted to express the vulnerability of a woman, her emotionality, independence and much more.

    In the beginning I wanted to talk only about 7 types of women, but later I realized that this project is endless, I continue to search and express a woman in all its manifestations.

    Paintings from these series: Cycle of life, Her, Blossom of Emotion, Kiss, Beauty of Truth;

    Generally speaking about the chosen topic, I can say that being a mother, a daughter and wife are just three of 7 archetypes expressed in every woman, I think the image of a woman is underestimated by modern society. Through the generations we carry the foundations of the family and play one of the main roles in the upbringing of our daughters — future mothers and grandmothers, thereby influencing future generations. My respect for the woman lined up through my relationship with my daughter and my mother.

    And my next project is about motherhood.
