About Natalia Karenka Parra-Sierra

Inspired by her surroundings, Natalia brings to life everyday materials, like packaging, electronic waste, fabrics and any other material she can make flat, and runs it though a printing press to produce mixed media prints. Colour and texture are really important in her printmaking work, not just because they are vibrant and rich, but because they give an aspect of three-dimensionality to a flat surface. After producing the prints, she then reutilises the print base material (printing plates), building structures and constructs installations with them. This annuls the utility context of the form they were designed for, and enhances the material's properties such as transparency, reflections, opacity and forms.
