About Miruna Filip

  • Biography
Each piece of work is inspired by philosophy, mythology and dreams. These messages are conveyed through symbolism and metaphoric shots stretching across the canvas, telling a story of the absurdity of the human experience.

I paint my dreams- the only reality I'm willing to accept.

Each piece starts with a fragment that appeared in my dreams, and then I build the rest of the painting around it. Although I was classically trained, I prefer to investigate a more distorted approach to the human anatomy and nature. This does not only intensify the ethereal feel of the work, but also stays true to the shapes in my dreams. All work is done primarily in oil, aside from the sculptural pieces, in order to ensure a long-term depth and brightness of the colours.
