    Cat Fish Man

This is a work in progress. It's a watercolor I'm painting from a photo I took about 20 years ago. It's of an old man I met in Tarpon Springs, Florida, while he was fishing for catfish which are plentiful and easy to catch. He was fishing in the Anclote River that runs into the Gulf of Mexico. He doesn't eat the fish. He uses them as fertilizer around his fruit trees. He says it's the best fertilizer.

Brooklyn keeps me company in the studio. She's a schnauzer and Jack Russell mix. With her around there is non stop drama.

I'm working on two figurative pieces off and on as gifts for two good friends who love Van Gogh and Fernando Botero. The one on the left is going to be Van Gogh's "Cafe Terrace at Night" and the upper right is Botero's "The Picnic." Botero is a famous Colombian artist who painted sardonic images of Colombia's bloated and self-serving upper classes, clergy, cultural mores, politicians, and military.
