In 2016 she defended a doctorate on “The Role Of Colour In Textile Art. Authors (1960 / 2010)” .

While she was a Ph. D. student as well as two years after graduation, she also was a teaching assistant of modern and contemporary painting, drawing and art history in the class of Painting in the specialty of “Textile- Art and Design” in the “National Art Academy” until 2019.

Since 2020 Medea is permanently based in London and is full time fine and multidisciplinary visual and 3D artist. Although the dozen techniques, mediums and art fields Medea has been practicing in through all her university art career, she always had special place for drawing and painting, and through the last seven years since Medea decided to move away from the Art University, she focused mainly on live sketching and painting and she developed a unique style of depicting. She calls her artworks on paper- sketches, while most are finished artworks. Her sketches still also are prototypes for her canvases.

She believes that the most genuine way to capture the energy, motion and mood of the particular moment is through the initial drawing at the time and place of creation. This is the cleanest an quickest way of an idea and feeling to be brought into the material world.

Medea experiments with different techniques and materials, so she can keep challenging her drawing and painting, as well as, her and her viewers visual perception. She understands her artworks as an abstract rhythm of shapes, lines, brushstrokes, patterns and colours , while the viewers of her works recognise places or themselves, if relevant.

Through the live sketching and painting she is searching to depict the abstract rhythms and energy of life, anything that triggers her vision of that special abstract and sometimes surreal rhythm.

    Event: VIGNETTES. INTERPRETING NOSTALGIA.

    Dates: 30 Nov 2023 - 14 Jan 2024

Venue: BSMT Space, 529 Kingsland Rd, London

Direct quote of the concept of the show-

“BSMT will be closing 2023 with a group show set to peel back the layers of time through a collection of nostalgic
'snapshot' paintings by a collection of 37 artists across Urban and Contemporary art, a space for memory and artistic expression to converge.
Mirroring our collective and individual experiences, 'Vignettes' seeks to echo past decades through a series of 40 x 40cm works, each a unique narrative fragment capturing the essence of an era or point in time through diverse artistic lenses. With over 40 works available from both established and emerging artists, this capsule collection is a perfect opportunity for collectors to begin or diversify their collection by discovering new artists at affordable prices.
'Vignettes' promises to take us on a whimsical and evocative journey between past and present, a collage of 're-member when' or 'back in the day' memories that are definitely worth revisiting!”
