About Marek Koscinski

  • Biography
I loved painting as long as I remember.
I tried it as a child, I tried it as a teenager - I don't think any of those pieces survived.
But the need to express myself in an image was always there.
By coincidence I've gained access to real oil paints - and this was it!
That happened about the turn of the millennium ... and over  600 paintings later it is still going strong.
The inspiration is everywhere: a book, an event, my own thoughts about other artists...
When I think about the moment I stand before a white canvas there is a shiver along my spine.
And then the process-fight-love-fury-scraping-spreading-repainting... until I feel I can loose myself in the painting.
Then there is a pleasure of looking, sometimes for hours, into my own mind ... often getting a new inspiration.
Some of my paintings took 15 minutes - and I've never ever thought about changing them. There are a few which got repainted over time. And there are some which I keep 'talking' with for several years. Usually with a knife, but a brush or my own fingers can be helpful too.
    Painting is an intellectual adventure.
Yes, my painting is esoteric - I wouldn't have it another way.

I would like to take a stand on shipping as well. I don't make money on shipping.
The rates you see for my paintings are based on my own estimates using DHL services.
The big paintings probably require such a dedicated and expensive treatment.
Smaller can be (probably) shipped via post office - much cheaper, even with signatures and proper insurance.
You might be forced to pay the rate as listed on my page, but then, after the mailing, I would return any access paid
