  • Biography
My Irish Great Grandparents are at the heart of my work and my Artist name. Henry O'Neill and Anne MacHale struggled to keep the family alive and build for our future. They came from Connacht in the West and left a possibility for all the family. Ireland very much influences my work, as well as time working and living in Mato Grosso Do Sul in Brazil, Evenskjer in Norway and Winnipeg Canada. These places and their peoples have always helped me think in another way. They encouraged me to work with texture and colour and learn about the people who fought for human rights and values. It allowed me to see Toucans flying over my garden, visit Viking settlements, experience an Arctic winter and the bitter cold of a Canadian prairie in January. I met Indigenous peoples of different tribes and heard their stories, all of which returned me to thoughts of my own ancestors and particularly Henry and Anne. I am fascinated by peoples stories and histories. I love animals. I love texture. I love travel and I love painting.

I started selling my work back in 1990, during my time living just outside of Sacramento, California  My painting has always been secondary to work, with it never receiving the time It deserved, even though I studied art in Norway in 1993, it returned to the back burner on my return to the UK. Now I want a change to my future. I want my art to be my life. To bring to life experience and thoughts and opinions and sadness on canvas. I still want to travel but for different reasons. I want to travel to create and recreate what I see and feel.
